Help Google Locate Businesses in Your Neighborhood
Since its inception in 1998, Google has been changing the internet and business game. Now they have pushed
the envelope once again, but this time the envelope is filled with cash and directed towards Google users. Google
is allowing users to earn money through their Google Business Referral Representative campaign. You would not be considered a Google employee. But, you would work for Google as a representative. And, it is a great job opportunity.

"As a Google Business Referral Representative, you'll visit local businesses to collect information (such as hours of operation, types of payment accepted, etc.) for Google Maps, and tell them about Google Maps and Google AdWords. You'll also take a few digital photos of the business that will appear on the Google Maps listing along with the business information. After the visit, you submit the business' info and photo(s) to Google through your Local Business Referrals Center, and we'll pay you up to $10 for each listing that is approved by Google and verified by the business," according to the Google website.

So, if you have some Saturday and Sunday afternoons that you don't need to spend solely on the couch, park the car somewhere and make a nice little mile loop of strip malls, gas stations, and such and you've got yourself a workout and a nice paycheck. The potential is amazing. In less than an hour, a person could make an easy $250 off of one city block alone. Not bad just for a little weekend side hustle, huh?

Earn money helping put local businesses on Google Maps

Do you have a warm welcoming personality? Do you like to talk? Well, if you like the web, can take pictures and have a computer, you can take a step towards becoming a Google Business Referral Representative. Google Business Referral Representatives are active Google users who help local businesses attract more customers online.

The formula is simple: visit businesses in your area and get a check. Have a pleasant conversation with businesses that are close to you and send Google their stats. After Google approves and verifies the information that you have sent them, they will send you your money.
Since most brick and mortar businesses rely on foot traffic, you can aid in developing your neighborhood. By
participating in the Google Business Referral program, you can also help customers find th e businesses that are
close to you.

So, what's the catch?

Well, there really isn't any catch. But, if a contractor has not earned at least twenty-five U.S. dollars ($25) in a given month, then Google will defer payment until the contractor has earned at least twenty-five U.S. dollars ($25).

"Freedom to do what you want any ol' timmmme."

Obviously, since no one is watching over you every second of the day (like at a regular 9-5) you can set your own hours and work as much as you want. For example, while you are hanging out with your friends at the next Meet-up or shopping for shoes, you can take a couple of minutes out to the talk to the proprietor and get his/her business information. You can talk to the business owner about how he/she can list their business on Google for free and take advantage of some of the Ad Word services, too. Stay-at-home spouses, students, the self-employed, just about anyone....this job was made for you.

As a matter of fact, community development corporations (CDC) would do well to get involved with this program. CDCs are always looking for cool and fun ways to raise money. This would be a great way to do fundraising and help the community. A CDC could even get the youth of the community involved and make them responsible for taking pictures of the businesses.

Interested in becoming a Google Business Referral Representative?

Sign in to your Google Account (or create an account if you don't have one), then answer a few questions about why you want to become a Business Referral Representative. Make sure you read the FAQ Sheet first.

The application process

The application is a lot shorter than most job applications. You will be asked the standard questions like, "Why do you want to become a Google Business Referral Representative?" and "What attracted you to this program?" I haven't seen a question like, "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?", on the application yet.

At $10 per referral, the Google Business Referral program might be prove to be more lucrative than a regular job.
